Medicare Part D

Beginning January 1, 2006, Medicare-eligible Advocate associates and their eligible spouses or dependents will be able to receive pharmacy coverage through Medicare Part D.

Currently, Advocate associates are provided with a broad choice of comprehensive medical benefits that include prescription drug coverage. It has been determined that Advocate's prescription drug coverage is on average at least as good as and, in most cases, better than the coverage that Medicare will provide. Therefore, Advocate would expect that most Medicare-eligible associates and their spouses or dependents will not want to enroll in the Medicare prescription drug coverage. If you decide to keep your current coverage with Advocate Health Care and not enroll in Medicare Part D then there is nothing you need to do.

All Medicare-eligible Advocate associates will have received a Notice of Creditable Coverage that includes important information about the prescription drug coverage through Advocate and the coverage that they are eligible to maintain through Medicare Part D. If you decide to elect prescription drug coverage through Medicare Part D at a later date, such as when you are no longer covered by Advocate's prescription drug coverage, you will need this notice to avoid any penalties under Medicare.

For Additional information or to access a copy of the notice please refer to the Notice of Creditable Coverage .
