Healthe Futures Account (HFA)

If you elect coverage under an Advocate medical option, a special account—a Healthe Futures Account (HFA)—will be set up in your name automatically.

If you are enrolled in a PPO/DRP option, any unused balance in your Deductible Reimbursement Account(DRA) at the end of the year will be automatically rolled-over into your Healthe Futures Account.
If you are enrolled in the HMO or HDHP coverage option, any unused balance in your Health Reimbursement Account(HRA) at the end of the year will be automatically rolled-over into your Health Futures Account.
Your HFA balance will rollover from year-to-year.
Once you retire, you can use your Healthe Futures Account to pay for out-of-pocket medical expenses such as retiree medical premiums, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Part B or Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
Contributions in your HFA will not count as taxable income, so you will not be taxed when you use these funds to pay for medical expenses in retirement.
The Healthe Futures Account is also designed to offer rewards for your healthy activities. All participants in an Advocate medical plan—PPO/DRP, HDHP or HMO—will have the opportunity to save for future medical expenses.

This account is administered on Advocate's behalf by Tri-Star Systems.
