Restricted Duty
During your short or long term disability, you may be able to work at a temporary assignment while you receive your disability benefits. This is called restricted duty. You would work another job within Advocate while you are unable to perform your regular job. For example, you might:

Work in a different department
Work fewer hours in your current department, or
Work with some modifications in your current department.

The Disability Council will review your disability and will suggest appropriate restricted duty to your physician. If your physician allows you to work with the restrictions, you’ll be required to work the restricted duty job.

If you don’t work your restricted duty assignment, you won’t be eligible to receive disability benefits. Your employment will end if you don’t return to work and you’ve used all of your time off available under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
